Latest PREP Update

September 14, 2021

Welcome back! Please take note of the following details…

PREP Programming will begin on September 21 at 7:00pm. Please note that instruction will be in-person only this year (no online instruction offered). Classes are filling up and it is strongly recommended that you download the registration form on the website and submit it in complete form as soon as possible as it is now past the due date. COVID-19 Protocols will be in line with all current BC School Guidelines.

Please pay attention to the following important details...

  • Students are asked to arrive at Holy Cross at 6:50pm.
  • In adherence with new COVID-19 Regulations, all of our classes will no longer be gathering in the Gym at the start of the evening
  • Level 1 & 2 are asked to meet their teachers at the side church entrance under the covered area outside of the parish office.
  • Level 3, 4, & 5 are asked to meet their teachers in the Gymnasium.
  • Level 6 & 7 will be asked to meet their teachers in the back parking lot under the covered area outside of the Gym kitchen.
  • It is very important that parents walk their children to these designated areas and be there at 8:00pm to pick them up in the same areas and walk them back to their cars. This will be an expectation for the first few months in an effort to establish safe protocols.
  • In further adherence with COVID-19 regulations, parents are no longer permitted to be waiting in the school building during PREP classes.
  • Students from Level 4-7 are required to wear masks upon entering the building.
  • Students from Level 1-3 are encouraged to wear masks upon entering the building.
  • Please note that all of our staff will be wearing masks during all instruction. Kindly be advised that the school will be cleaned thoroughly before and after PREP classes.
  • Hand washing and sanitizing will be strongly encouraged amongst students by all of our staff. Ample supply of hand sanitizer will be provided in all classrooms.
  • All other COVID-19 guidelines are listed on the BC Government Website.

On September 21st, atleast one Parent from each family is asked to attend a General Information Meeting in the Church at 7:05pm. The meeting will run for approximately 45 minutes. Please understand that anyone attending this meeting must wear a mask. All of our students will be attending regular classes on this evening. Students will be receiving their workbooks on this evening and are only required to bring a pen and pencil. Teachers will send home a notice for what student supplies will be required going forward and this year we will strongly remind our students not to share supplies.

On September 28th, all of our students are being asked to be dropped off at their designated areas and will then proceed to the church for a student assembly, blessing from Father Tomas, and general information meeting. Students can be picked up from their designated areas at 8:00pm.

We are kindly asking that you adhere to the basic COVID-19 students protocols as we embark on our new in-person programming for Holy Cross PREP.

Please understand that the students in the Sacrament years of Grade 2 and Grade 7 will be eligible for the Sacrament upon completion of the entire year program (students entering at a later date than the start may not be eligible to receive the sacrament).

Also note that PREP Students who completed Last years LEVEL 2 Program (currently LEVEL 3 Students) will be receiving the Sacrament of First Holy Communion on Saturday, October 23. More details on this event are forthcoming.

Updates for October will be coming shortly.

Your kind attention to the above information is sincerely appreciated,

Mr. Dino Alberti

PREP Coordinator's Message

Welcome to our new Holy Cross PREP Website! Please continue to visit this website throughout the year for program updates and other important information. The registration form is now available on the "About" page. As we look back to the past 16 months of the COVID-19 Pandemic, we realize that we miss the personal connection of our program. If things continue to progress in a positive manner, we look forward to welcoming you back to our in-person program in September 2021.

We'd also like to take this opportunity to thank Jackie Pavich for her many years of dedicated service to the Holy Cross PREP and sacramental programs. We wish her very well in her retirement.

I am very excited as I take on my new portfolio as PREP Coordinator at Holy Cross Parish.

Wishing you the very best always,

Mr. Dino Alberti
